During the busiest hours in the surrounding operating rooms, the OR suite’s nurses station is often at its most quiet. On the schedule board, the day’s cases are listed by room, type of procedure and team members assigned. ORs 3 and 4 can be seen at left. ORs 1 and 2 are behing the viewer, 5 and 6 down the corridor the right.


Dr. Steve Cardon adjusts the recording instruments on the anesthesia cart. Inhalation gas-level tubes are below. Wires of several readout devices can be seen attached to the patient’s hand, lower center, protruding from the swath of blue sheeting.


Hinting at the complexity of neuro-imaging devices, brain waves race across an EEG monitor next to the patient’s scans.
